What to Expect
When you arrive, we will discuss your symptoms and goals for the session so I can tailor the treatment exactly to your needs. Please note that I rely on focused, intentional massage strokes rather than heavy, forceful "deep tissue" pressure.

How does therapeutic massage help with tension headaches and TMJ dysfunction?

Headaches and jaw pain are often deeply connected to trigger points and hyper-tonicity in the neck, shoulders, and jaw muscles. Treatment focuses on releasing the suboccipital muscles at the base of the skull, addressing the upper trapezius, and working carefully around the temporomandibular joint to relieve clenching, reduce referral pain, and restore proper jaw mobility.

Can massage relieve sciatica and degenerative disc disease pain?

Yes. While massage cannot change the structural degeneration of a disc, it plays a massive role in managing the painful muscular compensation patterns that come with it. For sciatica, treatment targets hyper-tonicity in the gluteal muscles and hip rotators (such as the piriformis) to reduce pressure on the sciatic nerve, while also easing tension along the lumbar spine.

What is the approach for chronic conditions like fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis?

Chronic pain conditions require an intentional, nervous-system-calming approach rather than aggressive pressure. For fibromyalgia, gentle yet specific techniques help lower overall tissue sensitivity and down-regulate the nervous system. For osteoarthritis, treatment aims to reduce the guarding and muscle stiffness that builds up around arthritic joints, helping to improve your overall daily comfort and range of motion.

Why do you use focused strokes instead of heavy "deep tissue" pressure?

Many people associate effective therapeutic work with brute force, but heavy pressure can actually cause the body to guard and tense up further. By using focused, intentional strokes, we can access deeper layers of tissue and release chronic restrictions more effectively without triggering your body's natural defense mechanisms.
